We planned to ride our favorite route Genting Peres yesterday. However, when we reached Batu 18 Ulu Langat, the road seemed wet due to downpour earlier. For safety reason (reads: laziness) we decided to drive the cycling route by car to Genting Peres down to Pekan Titi all the way to Bandar Kuala Klawang for breakfast at an old-school kopitiam.
Once in a while not riding a bicycle is fun too .
While driving we then realized how long and severe those climbs are, especially on a bicycle.
I want to ride more miles in 2015. NEVERTHELESS.
I was humming Maria Carey's All I Want for Christmas is You while shooting this video.

Langat Solo Ride
Dr K and I promise to ride together but he chickened out last minute. Instead he went riding in Putrajaya. I love Langat so rode Langat by myslef - solo ride.
I think I was faster than my average speed - because I am a few kilo less due to the hike to EBC last year and I have been runnning regularly in the morning. I love it
I kind of like solo ride sometimes. I ride at my own pace, competing with myself. Besides I hate to promise my friends to ride with them and I ended up didn't turn up because of late nights and birthday parties and weddings.
Today was good. It drizzled when I got there but it stopped after I had my nasi lemak bungkus breakfast - with half boiled eggs (ayam kampung)

Rolling down from Genting Peres, I had to stop and shot this. The first time I saw it was minutes before that while I was painfully hammering the pedals about 300 meter from the summit.
At the very same time when I felt (yup, psychology) like I almost hit the wall for all my muscles could tolerate no more. Lactic acid was like fine needles in my muscles.

However, (it’s all in the mind) I was convinced that there was a carrot at the peak and to get it, I cannot afford to do anything else but riding – just before I glided 15km downhill.

I felt like an eagle flying, gliding, flirting with max speed.
I felt liberated.
I felt like a kid again.
I felt like out of this world.
I felt like I want to live another day and ride and ride.

Doc, take off your shades!
Why?
Enjoy the view! (of the climb to Genting Peres – the border of Negeri Sembilan and Selangor)
You have to be there to appreciate the (cycling) beauty of the place. The horizon of different shades of green, the mist and the clouds lurking like cotton wool, the fresh air, perfect road-ride weather. We were surrounded by hills of trees and jungle of millions of years old riding our bikes with latest Kevlar and carbon technology.
This is the joy of cycling.
The joy that keep my butt on the saddle.
The joy of being liberated.
The joy of being a child again!

I purposely called DRK yesterday and committed myself to have an early ride. It was some kind of deterrent from going out clubbing and come back at three and spends half of Sunday in bed – something I want to reduce significantly.
While the SuperSix (minus 1 or 2) just got home from a party or an after party, I was already up and showered (on weekend? Hallelujah!)
It was a great ride, considering I have not been climbing for a while, I did well. 50km two hours saddle time.

As usual, we took a dip in Sungai Langat. Cold, but bloody refreshing. I was a skeptic until I soaked myself and felt like I didn’t want to go up.
Had a nice time chatting with other jovial endorphin loaded fellow cyclist while having breakfast at a kopitiam in Batu 18.

After 3 half boiled ayam kampung, a cup of Milo and 2 set of roti (homemade) kaya, I hit home and had a deep nap.
Lovely!
But then, it could be lovelier………
;-)
