I was introduce to Marini's on the 57th by a hotelier after a monthly gathering of hoteliers in KL. It was a very interesting night and I met several not only interesting, but also very nice people.
We ended at Marini's on 57th. I have never heard of it before but it was a pleasant surprise. One of the most spectacular views of the the Twin Tower you can get. Just imagine looking at both towers from the 57th floor of a building just next to the tower. No other spots from a nearby buildings can challenge that I think.
The ID of the club was nice but the crowd was just OK. More office crowd - which is quite a disappointment.
Met Mr Modesto himself - the owner of the joint. He gave us a heads-up - the Italian restaurant will be opened soon.
Now I know where to take my Australian colleagues for dinner, and drinks - for a change.

Marini's on 57th- fantastic view of course, a view you simply cannot find anywhere else in KL and up until a few months ago, a view that never existed.
Sadly, this post is not about the view; its about how if it was not for the view, Marini's would go down in flames as a failure simply based on their service and manner in which they treat their guests.
Long story short, I ordered a bottle of wine and they brought the wrong bottle. It was not until after they had opened it that I realized the mistake. I advised the waiter, who even acknowledged the mistake and went off to what I assumed was getting me the bottle I ordered. Instead, another waiter comes to tell me that since they flashed the bottle to me and already opened it, there was nothing they could do. I explained to them it was dark, I was in the middle of a conversation and I trusted they'd bring me what I ordered. It looked as if they understood because they took the incorrect bottle away and out came the bottle I ordered. The evening concluded and I ordered the bill to settle up. To my surprise, after inspecting the bill which upon initial glance seemed a bit high did I notice they included the first bottle which they incorrectly brought out first!
We all know restaurant server/ customer etiquate. What is the procedure when you mistakenly bring a bottle which your customer did not order? You apologize, take the wrong bottle away and bring the correct bottle while NOT making the customer pay for your mistake. Poor, poor form by Marini's, the management and their staff.
I'm sure they will survive without my support but just in case you decide to go and enjoy the view, bring a flashlight, triple check your order and double check the bill because if the staff happen to make a mistake, you'll have to pay for it!
