Sheila Majid in Concert - The final song says it all
In aid of the IJN (Institut Jantung Negara) Foundation.
The entrence song was the upbeat WARNA followed by other retros like Penegemis Muda, Gerimis Semalam, Dia, Antara Anyir dan Jakarta, Aku Cinta Pada Mu, and a medley of P Ramlee songs. Brilliant performance by Sheila. As always, she's elegant and very interactive. The audience were great too. Almost everybody sang along her popular numbers, including the non Malays in the audience. At some points people just stood up and start dancing including the tudung girls and aunties. That's the spirit!
I know for sure Sheila was very happy with the response.
Some of the numbers were accompanied by a violinist from Indonesia, Henry Lamiri - beautiful performance. I have to find his CD. Anybody know about this guy?
Encore was the legendary song LAGENDA of course while projections of pictures of Malaysian Prime Ministers on the big screen. Very touching and truely patrotic.
This was how it went:
Tunku Abdul Rahman's picture appeared
Followed by applause from the crowd.
Then
Tun Razak's picture appeared
Another round of applause from the audience, including me.
Tun Hussein Onn's picture appeared
Another round of applause
Tun Mahathir's picture appeared
Almost everybody gave standing ovations and a big round of applause. I could feel the energy as everybody expects his picture will appear, chronologically. Suddenly there was a burst of claps, to me that implies : We Love You Mahathir! (Quietly in my heart: Please come back!)
Then Pak Lah picture came out.
Almost everybody sat down and the hall almost quiet.
I guess some people just do not have a place in our hearts for their lack of contributions to the country.
Tun Mahathir actually came to the concert and stayed until the end. IJN was his brainchild.
